Barcelona

A group of men with unexpected dogs. They were sat around in Barcelona, before the older guy went and sat all lone on this ball with his two dogs. Oh, and some sunflowers that I saw early one morning in the countryside.

Spanish Town Life

Some pictures from my trip in Spain at the end of September. These are from some of the small townson the north coast on the famous pilgrim route to Santiago de Compostel.

My Final Project

Working late into last night I finished this piece in response to my marriage project. I wrote a fairy tale from the surveys I conducted at an old peoples home and then went on to make an interactive book system.

My Summer Project

This website was the main project that I worked on during the summer, both the design and the images that make up the content. Take a look and remember to manipulate the images when you get there, you can see in full 360 view in all directions.

Stamp out Racism

A painting for Vincent to say thanks for the last three months. Marmite was a hot topic in the land of cusine. A country where food racism is rife and needs to be address in clear and understandable terms to change the mindset of the populace. Otherwise the prejudice will live on. Maybe they are right though, maybe it isn't exactaly haute cusine...

Channel Crossing

Just found a couple of photos on my computer from when I was coming over to France on the ferry. Nervous about what lay in store for me and already missing Martha. That was all nearly three months ago now though, the only thing that hasn't changed is missing Martha.

Second time at Puech Maynarde

I completed a second sejour at the horse ranch in north Aveyron called Puech Maynarde last week. This time I was photographing and also following the TV crew who were making documentary for French television. Again a really interesting time and I hope some good pictures and video. All the photos from this trip are available HERE on my flickr portfolio for this summer.

Still Water

Water from a fountain in Avignon. Lovely little neat droplets that it makes, it looks much messier in real life, but frozen they are perfect.

Sur le pont d'Avignon

Photos from a trip to Avignon (not to be confused with Aveyron where I live) this weekend. The bridge in the last photo is the pont d'avignon, a very famous bridge in France. Those of you who remember Joes song from last year might recal the line: "sur le pont d'avignon..."

Design a Postcard

My summer project was to design 4 postcards covering 4 topics. The idea was to explore designers and creative people that could influence you and also to explore graphically the postcard. I looked into collectability and trying to put a greater narrative and collectability into postcards in an age of mobile phones and facebook. My postcards (or is that postwoods) were posted in Aveyron and are currently winging their way to England I hope.

Key and Cobweb

Here an image that I had forgetten about from Puech Maynarde. Its is in part to note that I have uploaded (am in the process of uploading) all the work experience phots onto flickr. The idea is that it can be used as away to present to other possible stagiers the sort of work you get to do if you come to laetis. I think its a nice way to group them all together and present it to people who want an over view. Any way, its here. You can see where each picture was taken using the map feature too.

Video Puech Maynarde

Here is a video interview and one of cattle round up at Puech Maynarde. Just a tester really, but I will be interested to hear any feed back. What sort of effect they give (make you want to visit/not want to visit) Confusing, or logical (french aside). The image quality is really low however and I think the file size is a bit big, so i'll try to work on that.

Also as an after thought should probably note that the music is just temporary and is not going to be used comercially by Puech Maynarde without permission :)

Puech Maynarde

Here (a little late) are some photos from my sejour at the Puech Maynarde a couple of weeks ago. There are loads so I'm sure I'll end up putting some more on, but here are a few to give you a taste. Hopefully also be some video at some point too.

Laguiole

Laguiole is a well know make of knives in France. Famous historically for being the knife that all the sheep farmers had in their pockets. Its certainly still is that, every true Aveyronaies has one, but it is also a big business too and there are lots of designer brands as well. I went to the village of Laguiole and stumble upon this small excellent work shop where the prices were a bit less and the Atelier was fantastic; not at all showy, covered in dust everywhere and really, passionately, real. He sharpened and fixed my friends knife for free and we stayed for ages talking and watching him work. The knife in the pictures is mine, and the final one is of some of the landscape around laguiole and Aubrac. See wikipedie on laguiole here.

I particularly like when it says:

Traditionally only the head of the household was allowed to snap his blade shut, meaning the family could clear the table.

Je pense a toi, tu pense a moi?

I stayed in a house camping recently. It was me and four other people, but they were all in one room down stairs and I was in alone upstairs in this deserted house. I slept in the room in the pictures where all the windows were broken. I opened the door in the pictures and it looked like someone had been sleeping rough in there. The poster in the pictures says, "je pense a toi, tu pense a moi? (I think of you, you think of me?). Imagine that face looking down at you all night. Yes I do think of you, in my nightmares, now stop thinking about me...

Gorge du Tarn

Some new pictures from last weekend. Walking in the beautiful gorge du tarn in Aveyron. Black and white in celibration of the fact that my website is back up and running (i think, please check and let me know). Also a couple of other links added on the right including Goldsmiths design and my you tube.

Things are going really well at the moment with work. Hopefully getting the Aveyron360.com website up in the next few weeks with all the 360 panoramas I've been working on. Spent the last week on a Horse ranch which was very interesting making videos, panoramas and photographing. Hopefully have some photos to follow soon. The website is here although a new one is being designed over the next few months. Also here a link to the gorge du tarn website.

Bed and Breakfast photo shoot

Some photos for a Bed and breakfast I took a while ago. A really lovely place in Aveyron. I stayed for a couple of days and the photos were really successful. Hopefully the website should be going live in the next couple of weeks, using all my photos. I'll post the link when it does!

Affiche pour Arvieu

A poster that I made for an expostion here in Arvieu. Not nessisarly my favorite style, but a project that I completed from start to finish so interesting for understanding the process. Not a bad poster either...
